BUDDHISM & FLOWERS
A beauty project inspired by the many alluring flowers used in Buddhist prayer traditions.
I hail from Singapore, where Buddhism is the dominant religion. I grew up surrounded by Buddhist temples and often took part in prayer traditions, beautiful flowers were abundant in these traditions but nobody seemed to know anything about them. I often asked my parents and relatives why we did certain things or used certain flowers in these traditions, but I never got any answers because they have always just done what they were taught by their parents and blindly followed tradition.
This project aims to explore the sense of intrigue I had growing up around these flowers and offer a little glimpse into the beauty and mystery that they hold.
